PACOS Trust adalah sebuah organisasi berasaskan komuniti yang berdedikasi untuk membantu komuniti Orang Asal di Sabah. Walaupun didaftarkan di bawah Bab 148 Ordinan Pemegang Amanah (Sabah, Malaysia) pada tahun 1997, PACOS Trust telah terlibat secara aktif dengan pembangunan komuniti Orang Asal sejak tahun 1987 sebagai sebuah entiti yang lain.\u00a0PACOS<\/strong>\u00a0adalah singkatan kepada \u201cPartners of Community Organisations in Sabah\u201d atau Rakan Pertubuhan Masyarakat di Sabah..<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Organisasi ini adalah sebagai sebuah organisasi yang berusaha untuk memperkasakan komuniti Orang Asal melalui pembinaan dan pengukuhan organisasi masyarakat secara sistematik, yang boleh bertindak secara kolektif sendiri. Kami juga menyedari keperluan untuk membantu membela jaringan dalam kalangan organisasi yang bergelut untuk menegakkan hak ke atas sumber komuniti dan menghidupkan semula sistem Orang Asal yang telah kami usahakan untuk lakukan.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

PACOS Trust kini memberi sokongan berterusan kepada Pertubuhan Rakyat (PR) di 19 lokasi luar bandar dari 27 daerah di Sabah. Setiap PR mempunyai jawatankuasa dan melaksanakan pelan kawasan dan program kerja sendiri. PACOS Trust memberi meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemahiran pemimpin PR melalui nasihat, latihan dan pendedahan yang sesuai. PACOS Trust dianggotai sekitar 80 sukarelawan anak tempatan dari pelbagai latar belakang. Hampir semua sukarelawan ini mempunyai kemahiran asas membangun masyarakat dan terlibat dengan perjuangan komuniti mereka sendiri. Kami berharap untuk mempunyai kenalan di semua 27 daerah luar bandar di Sabah dengan sekurang-kurangnya satu pertubuhan rakyat di setiap daerah. Kami juga merancang untuk meningkatkan kerja kami mengenai Hak Tanah dengan merancang kempen tanah selama 4 tahun, meneruskan usaha kami untuk memastikan peserta aktif dalam mengawal selia dan melindungi akses kepada kepelbagaian biologi dan pengetahuan peribumi, mengambil bahagian dan menyumbang secara aktif dalam rangkaian Malaysia dan Asia, serta memberi input kepada isu berkaitan pembangunan yang dihadapi oleh masyarakat Orang Asal.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Who Are We? PACOS Trust is a community-based organization\u00a0dedicated to supporting indigenous communities in Sabah.\u00a0Although registered under the Trustees Ordinance (Sabah) only in 1997, we have been actively involved with communities since 1987 as a different legal entity.\u00a0PACOS\u00a0is an acronym for \u2018Partners of Community Organizations\u00a0in Sabah\u2019. The organization sees itself as an organization that strives to empower indigenous communities through systematic building and strengthening of community organizations, which can act collectively on its own. We also realized the need to support networking among organizations struggling to assert right over community resources and revitalizing indigenous systems which is what\u00a0we are currently striving to do. PACOS Trust supports community organisations (CO) in 19 districts involving 27 geographical areas in Sabah, with each community organisation determining and implementing its own area plan and work programme. PACOS Trust strives to improve knowledge and skills of CO leaders through advice, training and appropriate exposure. PACOS Trust has 80 personnel with various backgrounds. Almost all are working in their own communities but also contribute to the organisation by being part of different ad-hoc committees as resource persons depending on their skills and knowledge. A Committee of the Board of Trustees oversees the direction of PACOS Trust. We hope to have contacts in all 27 rural districts in Sabah with at least one community organization in each district. We also plan to boost our work on Land Rights by planning a 4-year land campaign, continue our effort to ensure active participants in regulating and protecting access to biological diversity and indigenous knowledge, participate and contribute actively in the Malaysia and Asia network, and provide input into development-related issues faced by indigenous communities.
