It was truly a wonderful experience as we visited the Rungus community of Kampung Kodong in the district of Pitas. As one of our network partners since the mid 1990’s, we were truly honoured to have witnessed and be given the opportunity to document the traditional lullaby songs sung by the village women which took place in the Kodong Community Learning Centre (CLC) as a way to preserve and conserve their unique language and tradition.
Below are some pictures taken during our visit!
Raini teaching her nephew and niece how to ‘mangavol’ or weave at the Liu CLC in Pitas.
Our very own videographer, Didi, recording a traditional poetry recital.
Mrs. Hani showing her elder the documented lullaby song which was chosen to be recorded. Both are the community’s lullaby singers.
The elders in their traditional Rungus attire.
Lunch is served!
This is how we preserve our culture!
A trial run before the actual recording starts
The Community Learning Centres (CLC) in villages throughout Sabah are truly a community-built building. They are definitely our pride and joy for the past 20 years since we helped introduced it in the communities.
Our singers taking a break.
The women watches the video of them singing the lullaby song. They were incredily happy to hear the songs and watch the video!
